What Happens When You Decide to Make a Healthy Change?

The day after you implement healthy changes - whether it's starting a new exercise routine or cleaning up your diet - how do you envision the results?

Are you wearing your skinny jeans?
Have you lost inches from your waist?
Are your muscles transformed?
Have your endurance-levels enabled you to run a marathon?
Do people stop you on the street and ask you for your fitness secrets?
Are you more confidant in social settings?

Often, we imagine an instantaneous magical transformation taking place simply because we've made a decision - and many times it has, we just fail to see it because we are looking in the wrong places. If your primary motivation in getting healthier is related to external results, once you reach that 'finish line,' there is quite the let-down, because inside, you are still the same. Rarely does restriction and punishment net lasting 'victory'.

Valuing yourself and wanting to be a good steward of the life and health that you have been granted are some of the best motivating factors toward creating life-long change.

To value yourself, you have got to know yourself - not through the readings on a scale, the size of your jeans, or the speed of your mile, but through mindfulness, kindness, and self-reflection.

The first step toward a healthier you is deciding to take better CARE of YOU in what you choose to eat, the activities you choose to do, and the relationships that you engage in . . . today . . . and then again tomorrow . . . and the next day, and the next .
